OBSERVATIONS WHICH GUIDED THE PROJECT OBJECTIVE
1. CD players being stored in jacket or in back pack: teenagers
of all ages listening to music on the subway and having difficulty
accessing CD players to change CDs.
2. Difficulty in handling drinks while mobile: People holding
drinks without a good storage place.
3. Metrocards being stored in a hard to access area: People
searching for Metrocards while entering the gate and holding up
the lines while searching or the Metrocard.
4. Phones and beepers being kept on pockets or clips: Observations
of phones ringing and the owner looking in all of their bags to
find the phone, sometimes they miss the call because they could
not find the phone fast enough.
5. Money stored in pockets, handbags, or wallets: People
searching and digging for money to pay quick on the go items such
as Metrocards, snacks, papers, etc.
6. Books being kept in a bag or back pack or being carried
by hands: Observations of people not having a choice to store their
book and being forced to carry it. This leaves the person with only
one hand to perform tasks.
7. Keys being stored in pockets, thrown in bags or worn on
wrists or necks. Noticing that keys are more apt to be lost.
8. PDA's being kept in special organizers, in pockets and
in bags: People searching for the PDA to find directions or to record
a memo or note.
9. Cameras being stored on the wrist or around the neck:
The cameras are easy to access but not stored away from being broken
or lost.
