Journal Covers

Covers for three issues of Visible Language, a journal concerned with researching and defining the roles and properties of written language. The covers illustrate a special project of the journal: examining the relation of semantic expression to typographic form in print media.

The first set references the semantics of cave drawing, one of the earliest recorded forms of written language.

The second set incorporates the three typographic categories into the thematic categories of recently exposed cave drawings.
